Set of 3 Historical Frames from the 1894 Denton Bros (Brothers) Collection. The Denton brothers family began traveling the world collecting exotic specimens in the early 1800's. Their father died in Southeast Asia in the 1860s and passed his collection to his two sons who began framing and selling the specimens. Most of their collection is now in museums. Set of three vintage frames includes Morpho didius (stamped Morpho cypress) from South America. Ageromia amphinome (Now classified as Hamadryas amphinome) from South America, and a Callicore species (stamped Catagram, a now obselete genus of butterflies).
