Custom Project Policy
Would you like to commission us for a custom insect framing, reframing, or restoration project? We love creating one-of-a-kind pieces and would be delighted to bring your vision to life.
Please send us a message at butterflies@thelittlecaterpillar.com with a few details about what you have in mind — such as preferred specimens, size, or style — and we’ll start by preparing a personalized estimate for you.
Deposits & Payment
We require a nonrefundable deposit of approximately 20% of your project’s estimated cost before work begins. This deposit secures your place in our queue and will be applied toward your final invoice.
Please note: Your initial estimate is an approximation based on the information provided at the start of your project. Final pricing may vary depending on material availability, design adjustments, or additional work requested as your project develops.
What’s Included
- Specimens and framing materials
- Labor and craftsmanship
- Repair or restoration work (if applicable)
- Custom Design & Guidance Fee — approximately 15–20% of your project total, covering your initial consultation and ongoing communication as we bring your design to life
Timeline
Completion times vary depending on project complexity, specimen availability, and the number of other custom projects currently in progress.
We’ll provide an estimated timeframe when your order is confirmed and keep you updated along the way.
Changes & Cancellations
Because each piece is made specifically for you, deposits are nonrefundable once materials are ordered or work has begun. Design changes requested after this stage may incur additional costs and could affect the completion date.
Shipping & Pickup
When your project is complete, we’ll arrange either secure shipping or in-studio pickup — whichever you prefer.
